New Game Where You Play as a Monster

Monster Play revamped
We all know that monster players start out as a level ~75 monster in the Ettenmoors and have very limited customization with them. What if we revamped the whole system, added a huge area out in the east of Mordor, and began an alternate quest line for Monster Players. Yes, I am saying that Monster Players choose their monster-race, choose their monster-class, and then start from level 1 and work their way up, slowly moving westward. They would get their own weapons, their own armor, their own complete trait sets and racial abilities like Freeps. This idea I call the Domain of the Eye.
Available races
Evil Men: Harad/Rhun
Orc: Some location that will be discovered later
Uruk: Like orc
Wight: Comes from the north of the east
Wargs and spiders would be out because they are the mounts of everything else. (sad sigh)
Classes(same names as current but will be changed later)
*Champion*: All Races
*Captain* Uruk, Evil Men
*Burglar* Orc, Evil Men
*Guardian* All Races
*Hunter* All Races
*Lore-Master* Evil Men, Wights
*Minstrel* All Races
*Rune-Keeper* Wight exclusive
*Warden* Wight, Orc, Evil Men
Freeps would be able to get to them when their still young and tender you say? There will still be guards who will kill with one hit at the towns. Eventually lvl 75+ monsters will show up to counter nosy hobbit spies and, there will be the soldiers of the Eye. On both sides of the Anduin, scouts and guards of both Freeps and Creeps will roam, searching for meddlers. One hit from those guys and its quits for you.
But...if Freeps are moving eastward, and Creeps are moving westward, they'll meet somewhere won't they? That's right and they will meet smack-dab in the middle of Osgiliath, which will be crawling with NPC soldiers of both sides. All in all, it would be like a colossal Anuminas with Freeps and Creeps fighting to the death. And, just to make things interesting, once in a while an army would set out from Minas Tirith or Minas Morgul, each led by a nearly invincible General/Captain. Witch-King for Morgul, Prince Imrahil from Tirith.
As to the Ettenmoors Monster Play, I don't think it would need to change but I doubt its utility if the Domain of the Eye were to be introduced. I think some people would still do it but most people don't do it now and its hardly balanced on Gladden.
This is just the beginning of a new idea. Please give me feedback

Re: Monster Play revamped
I'm not a lore expert, so I'm going out on a limb and maybe someone who is more versed can correct me if I'm wrong....
But the way I understand creep-side is that there is no "development". We, as creeps, are all created/recruited strictly for the sole purpose of being a cog in the war machine. We don't get to "grow" in the same way the freeps do.
So, for better or worse, starting as level 75 (or whatever the current level cap is) is very much in line with the story/lore.

Re: Monster Play revamped
Very true... Nevertheless, orcs were not made generals in a day and Uruks fought their way up in the ranks. Haradrim had to be conquered and deceived before they would march for the Dark Lord. We would become his emissaries, the elite soldiers of Mordor and not the mindless grunts. Next to the Nine, the Mouth, and other lore-true characters that ruled under Sauron, we would be next. Talking of lore, the books never mention anything about us Freeps either which is kind of sad. You could almost see, 'Shire saved by a new heir of Bilbo's Madness!' So, I don't really think that the lore-inaccuracy would be much of problem. I think the biggest problem is that it would double the size of the game. THAT is a huge problem

Re: Monster Play revamped
This would amount to writing an entire, additional game. *Give* Turbine somewhere is the range of $20 million (that's a SWAG, could be as much as 10 times that) and wait 5 to 7 years and you'll get it...maybe. Depends on what the licensor has to say in the matter as well.

Had this been planned 10 years ago, it might have happened, but as it is, PvMP was a late addition to LoTRO and there was never time--nor, most likely--the intent to do anything of the sort.

Marianna from Windfola, Captain lv115.
Now on Arkenstone, took a few year off on Gladden.

Re: Monster Play revamped
It would be an completely different game based on Middle Earth, but interesting....
Sounds like a kind of parallel to LotRO, but with a focus/story arc of the player (creep) rising up in their own "kind" (Orc/goblin/spider/warg/etc...) and then through the ranks of Mordor.
Keeping entirely to monster classes where dealing with the good guys wouldn't be PvP, but would be like the LotRO Moria session plays, where you're going to lose, but it's done in a way where, maybe you survive to retreat or something might be a possible way to keep it lore-friendly. World PvP could conceivably even be included completely, as creeps are at each others throats anyway.
But again, an entirely new game. It's not something that could be done in LotRO.

Re: Monster Play revamped
I never really mentioned it, but it would be possible for creeps and freeps to come at each other in the other's territory. This gives the sudden invasion thought process. Guards with one-hit kills would have to be increased in places like the Shire and, for arguments sake, Orc's Starting Hole, but the players themselves would be largely responsible for driving away encroaching enemies. Everytime a freep sees a creep, or viceversa, he shows up on the map for all enemies to see. Then you have fight or flight option and, if you take too long, you'll have every lvl 75 guy nearby on your back. Yes, it'd be a gigantic and expensive project but Turbine could do it piecemeal, like they're doing now.

Re: Monster Play revamped
I like this idea would be awesome to have more MP races like evil man (harad/rhun angmarian and mans of mordor) and wights
And then same classes what freeps have it would balance MP realy much.Creeps can get armour and weapons is also good thing
This would make creeps as powerfull than freeps are.Im not sure about leveling.Mordor could brilliant pvmp place

Re: Monster Play revamped
If Turbine implemented this part of your idea onto all servers, I would quit playing LOTRO & never look back. I daresay I'm not the only one, either.

As for the rest of your idea, listen to WHHeydt.

Re: Monster Play revamped
This feature would have to be in place before the live launch of the game. It would have to be in well before the preorder sales. A lot of existing customers make the buying and playing decision based on the absence of this feature.

Making this kind of change, five years after live launch would cost Turbine a considerable portion of their customer base. In my case, I enjoy PvP. I play Lotro for the cooperative game play. I want competitive game play - That is what Eve Online is for.
I have no inherent dislike for this kind of PvP. However, Turbine changes this game on me. I will punish them by leaving. It is the only effective way that I (as a customer) have to punish product suppliers for massive changes to my product.
I am already hot under the collar with Oracle. Oracle stated they will not provide security patches for the Oracle products I got. Instead Oracle is requiring me to pay for a product upgrade:

to get the security fixes.Unless stated otherwise, all content in this post is My Personal Opinion.

Re: Monster Play revamped
You shouldn't put "Monster Play revamped" as a topic, they will do ./ignore on your suggestion.
Personally though, I welcome
any change, go for it!

Re: Monster Play revamped
Maybe it would have worked at the launch of game but not this late. I've witnessed 2 MMOs with massive changes(Ultima Online and Star Wars Galaxies) and in both cases the changes were not well received.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming "WOW, what a ride!"

Re: Monster Play revamped
They did just revamp it. They gave us all the new version of Radiance. Players hated Radiance, Turbine hates PvMP, so they gave to the the PvMPers. They are trying to kill it off.
