This is but one of many problems that are encountered on a routine solar day, which besides includes a dead body of a local resident establish in a barn non far away, who has been shot twice. Rhodes thinks this suspicious as a sign nearby read "Trespassers Will be Shot, Survivors Volition Be Shot Again". Welcome to rural Texas.
The Sheriff, surrounded by his comedic co-workers, the dispatcher and jailer, who perform the function of Abbott and Costello amazingly well, are constantly informing Rhodes how much he keeps them out of the "loop", as is the perky news reporter who seems to capture Rhodes at his well-nigh dashing self, and as is the balance of the supporting bandage.
"Survivors Will Be Shot Again " is another well written and witty affiliate in the annals of a pocket-size boondocks sheriff who just one time in awhile wants to enjoy a lunch break at the Dairy Queen indulging in a Blizzard, even though his wife would disapprove, or at least to accept i twenty-four hours off without an emergency phone telephone call coming his fashion.

just every bit amusing equally earlier books, with the same quirky characters we've come to wait and appreciate. It'south always fun to watch the sheriff puzzle out the answers to the latest law-breaking in Blacklin County, Texas.

It's time for some other Sheriff Dan Rhodes mystery from Bill Crider. Survivors Volition Exist Shot Over again isjust as amusing equally before books, with the same quirky characters we've come up to expect and appreciate. It's ever fun to lookout the sheriff puzzle out the answers to the latest crime in Blacklin County, Texas.
Really, Rhodes should never accept a mean solar day off. I twenty-four hour period, and he ends upward foiling a convenience shop robbery with a loaf of breadstuff, and finding a body. The robbery was but another comic highlight for the citizens who expect their sheriff to exist a heroic ii-gun hero. They just know Rhodes is the model for Sage Barton in a serial of wild adventure-romances. And, Rhodes' wife, Ivy does nothing to disabuse them of that notion. But, it's the murder victim that gets the sheriff's attention. Melvin Hunt, the victim, and the man who owns the befouled where Melvin is found, had both been victims of local thefts. Rhodes will certainly inquire questions when theft and murder are involved.
Sheriff Dan Rhodes is the perfect hero for a series of delightful constabulary procedurals. He acknowledges that Tv set and the Internet, and fifty-fifty those Sage Barton books, set up people upwards to expect instantaneous, miraculous results when criminal offence is involved. He doesn't let expectations bother him. "Rhodes wasn't discouraged by the seeming lack of prove. He'd always had a lot more luck with talking to people than he'd had with finding clues." In fact, he sees his investigations as puzzles, with pieces that need to be fitted together correctly and tried different means.
That doesn't mean at that place's no action in Survivors Will Be Shot Again. Readers will appreciate activity scenes with a loaf of bread, prehistoric animals, and a dangerous grouping of teenage thieves. This latest engaging mystery is one more fun story featuring the Texas sheriff who doesn't take himself or life also seriously, but does take crime seriously.

Chris Ferris isn't the but 1 frustrated with crime. Billy Bacon has his habitation down in the s eastern office of Blacklin County and had stuff stolen before. Patently information technology has happened once more which is why he called for the sheriff. This time stuff was taken while Billy Salary was doing his duties equally loan officeholder at the Clearview First Depository financial institution. He was at piece of work in town so the thief or thieves struck while his ill wife was at home. He's sure Able Terrell and his agglomeration in the nearby compound did it. He is sure they are the ones behind all the crime problems in the area going dorsum months though there is no real show that is true.
Able Terrell and the others that live at his chemical compound to keep it to themselves and don't welcome contact. While they have been involved in a few things over the years, their reputation is far worse among the locals than what they have really done. Sheriff Rhodes isn't about to jump to the conclusion so hands offered by a clearly nervous Billy Bacon. Something far more than the latest theft is going on at Bacon's home.
Information technology doesn't accept long for Rhodes to figure out what Billy is nervous well-nigh as at that place is a body in the new barn. Dressed in camo, Melvin Chase is dead and has been for several hours at least by the aroma and wait of things. While Rhodes isn't sure Billy killed him, it does not aid that Billy has tried to hide not but the fact he knew he had a expressionless man in his barn, but a couple of other things.
The expiry of Melvin Hunt is just one of several mysteries at work in the Survivors Will Be Shot Again: A Dan Rhodes Mystery past Bill Crider. Billed every bit the 23rd in the series and scheduled to exist released in early August, writer Bill Crider delivers over again a solidly good book. Filled with all the regulars, occasional laugh out loud humor, and plenty of mystery, readers are once again treated to Blacklin County in East Texas where criminal type things happen on a semi regular basis.
Many questions are asked, evasive answers are often given, and Rhodes does his best to solve the case. Information technology takes some fourth dimension because folks tend to prevarication first and tell the truth way later, but the journey is highly enjoyable and provides several twists that feel mystery readers nearly likely won't meet coming. While it is e'er best to read a series in social club, one can safely start with Survivors Volition Be Shot Again every bit an introduction to characters that will soon experience similar family. Make sure to continue an eye on Seepy Benton.

I similar this series and can't find plenty of the previous books to read. I like the sarcastic sense of humor the writer uses in the books. Since I live in this neck of the woods, the rural Texas setting is a big plus for me likewise. Some other good, lighthearted tale from Pecker Crider.

These cozy mysteries are quickly becoming a addiction since I at present intend on getting the previous books of the series about minor boondocks sheriff Dan Rhodes.
Survivors Volition Be Shot Again is more character driven than plot driven only I enjoyed Crider's colorful characters —esp. the murderer and the victim. I enjoyed being a tag along with Dan Rhodes every bit he went through his daily rou Love this volume. The offset Dan Rhodes story I always read was in a Christmas anthology years ago…"Murder, Mayhem, and Mistletoe".
These cozy mysteries are speedily becoming a habit since I now intend on getting the previous books of the series about small town sheriff Dan Rhodes.
Survivors Will Exist Shot Once more is more character driven than plot driven but I enjoyed Crider's colorful characters —esp. the murderer and the victim. I enjoyed beingness a tag along with Dan Rhodes every bit he went through his daily routine and existence privy to his thought procedure of how he figures out just how to track down the murderer and solve the instance.
Chalk this review up to having also just read Trollope, who was a writer in a dissimilar genre but who also provided introspection into his characters.
I totally loved this book and recommend it to anyone who is a cozy mystery reader. But, be warned (at least for this particular book) -- in that location are more often than not male characters hither. If you're looking for annihilation else, this is not the place to find it.
Also, don't guess the length of the book by the fourth dimension it took to read -- I had to set this downwards over the holidays and then pick up to stop after. ...more
The action is more near the people - the colorful locals, the murderer, even the victim - than it is about the mystery itself. And being more character vs. activeness driven, the reader gets to tag forth with the sheriff as he goes nigh his daily routine, and follow his idea process to understand and appreciate how he ultimately tracks down the murderer to solve the instance.
While this series would qualify as lighter fare, there'southward much more to it than what meets the eye.

Crider's deceptively uncomplicated plots and stories motility quickly along and hold my interest. Love his continuing characters and his dogs and even the alligator and turtle he does boxing with.
He must be the best boss because he has a devoted staff who are always on duty and ready to aid. (The department must pay a lot of overtime.)
I am u I am and so glad I don't practice Sheriff Rhode's laundry. Twice he's wrestling in muddied water in this volume and surely he sweats, besides. His new county Tahoe must exist a mess, as well.
Crider's deceptively unproblematic plots and stories motion quickly forth and hold my interest. Love his continuing characters and his dogs and fifty-fifty the alligator and turtle he does battle with.
He must be the best dominate considering he has a devoted staff who are always on duty and set to assistance. (The department must pay a lot of overtime.)
I am usually hungry as often as Sheriff Rhodes and want to say "Make that two" to all the burgers, DQ, charcoal-broil, and Tex-Mex. It's virtually the simply time he sits down. (Too bad he'south laying off DP.)
I don't write a decent review but I am a v star fan.
